Manchester United’s recent signing of Everton’s star striker Romelu Lukaku isn’t just good news for Jose Mourinho, who will no doubt be keen for United to improve on their tally last season which saw the club score the fewest goals among the top 7 teams in the Premier League.
And while most fans might have seen Lukaku greeted with celebrations from close friend Paul Pogba, in terms of FIFA 18 Ultimate Team, it’s Marouane Fellaini who should be most thankful and benefit most from the new signing.
“There may not be a player in all of football more contentious than Marouane Fellaini,” argues FIFA game experts at Futhead.com
“That being said, the Belgian midfielder’s going to have perfect chemistry with Lukaku and adds, even more, physicality up the middle.
“While pairing Lukaku and Fellaini leaves a lot of pace to be desired, it’s something that we could see a lot of in FIFA 18.
“Lukaku’s base card in FUT 17 had 82 pace, and even after his unbelievable 2016/17 campaign, it’s hard to imagine that we’ll see a big bump in his pace in FUT 18.
Another obvious pairing in FIFA 18 Ultimate Team will be Lukaku and Pogba, who will now benefit from a green link for everyone’s fantasy Ultimate team squads.
“Pogba and Lukaku’s strength up the middle of the pitch is downright terrifying for opposing squads, and their green link down the middle should provide plenty of great hybrid possibilities (I’m already picturing Ousmane Dembele out on the right side),” continues Futhead.com
Better still, should FIFA continue with their new Ones to Watch items at the start of the season, Lukaku is one player we’d expect to see and immediately the sort of player worth having the second FIFA 18 is released.
And with One to Watch players receiving a stats boost with every Team of the Week performance, it’s possible Lukaku could become a beast of a player on the new FIFA release.
“His goal scoring prowess combined with a deeper and more talented roster around him should land him on plenty of EA TOTWs, just like he did last season for Everton,” concludes Futhead
The news follows on from another week of FIFA 17 FUTTIES action, with two more player cards to mark a fond farewell to two players set to retire this year.
The announcement includes a 95 rated RB Phillip Lahm and a 94 rated CDM Xabi Alonso, both of whom can be obtained in FIFA 17 by completing a special SBC (Squad building challenge).
In addition, the game also released more nomination SBC’s for players favourite RM/RW and as previously mentioned, the only way to vote for your favourite is by completing each players SBC’s in the game.
Lastly, EA Sports also announced four new marquee transfer cards which are available in SBC’s and packs, including United’s Romelu Lukaku and Everton’s new star forward Wayne Rooney.
The FUTTIES event lasts six weeks from Friday, July 7 through to Friday, August 18 and will act as the game’s final celebration before EA Sports turn their attention to FIFA 18 released on September 26.
