FIFA is coming back to Nintendo’s platform, and today publisher Electronic Arts confirmed onstage during its Hollywood fan event that this offshoot of its flagship soccer series is getting its most popular features.
Ultimate Team will be available for FIFA 18 among the modes on the Nintendo Switch as it launches September 29. EA in advance announced the news of next week’s Electronic Entertainment Expo trade show.
This is the EA Vancouver and EA Romania development studios’ taking on building in the soccer sim a fantasy team, and it is one of the most popular features in the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions. Thus, bringing it to FIFA’s first appearance on a Nintendo console since FIFA 15 shows EA is looking more seriously at the Switch than it did at the failed Wii U that it deserted. With FIFA 17 it was the last years best-selling console game in the world, opening it to a new (even smaller) audience to have a positive effect on the EA’s bottom line.
EA also offers ways to play with each control scheme for the Switch featuring a single Joy-Con controller, two Joy-Cons docked on the Switch, or the Pro Controller. The game works as the new hybrid console of Nintendo’s sits in its TV dock, and it can be used as a handheld or in the tabletop mode (where the Switch sits on a flat surface with its kickstand out).
Other features are the standard Career Mode, Kick Off, Local Seasons (that can be played across two Switch systems), Online and Offline Seasons, the Women’s International Cup, and more.
“FIFA 18 on Nintendo Switch can be played anywhere, anytime and with anyone,” said producer Andrei Lăzărescu. Authentic experience that fans expect from FIFA is assured while leveraging innovative ways to play at home and on the go with Nintendo Switch.”
